Basil butter naan white pizza is as good as artisan pizzas. This recipe will make you realize how easy it is to whip up a delicious flatbread pizza at home.
Ever since flatbread pizzas started to appear in the market, I have been craving my mom’s homemade pizzas. She used to create her own pizza bases out of organic wheat flour that was from locally grown wheat. Her pizzas where not always perfect but couldn’t be beaten by any pizzas today. They were just light and flavorful. You never felt over stuffed after eating those homemade treasures.
Out of all the flat breads available, I prefer naan. They are much more flavorful and close to home. I have to share my naan recipe here, I am sure you will find these exotic breads taking your meals to a whole different level.
My version of flatbread pizza:
Lots of naan bread pizza ideas are out there but this version of flatbread pizza is my favorite version. I love the this combo of toppings so much. Goat cheese, cream cheese combo with capers, olives ,sauteed peppers with some basil butter brushed on just makes the best comfort food for me where as my wife loves a Greek inspired flatbread topping, which in fact is our next recipe.

Flatbread Pizza – Naan Bread Pizza – I
Basil butter naan white pizza is as good as artisan pizzas. This recipe will make you realize how easy it is to whip up a delicious flatbread pizza at home.
Ingredients
Pizza toppings
- 2 Tbsp Cream cheese
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Goat cheese
- 3/4 Cup Sauteed Spinach and green peppers
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Capers
- 1 Tsp Basil ( dry or fresh )
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 Cup Mozzarella
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- Pinch of salt
- 1 Naan ( We used garlic naan, but any naan will do. )
Instructions
Making the pizza:
-
Preheat the oven at 400F. Soften cream cheese and spread on the naan. Drizzle on basil butter. Butter doesn't have to cover the entire flatbread pizza. Place sauteed veggies and goat cheese. Add the olives, capers and crush oregano between your fingers then sprinkle over the naan. Generously cover the naan with mozzarella. Bake for 8-10min. Watch from 8mins onward to make sure we are not over cooking the pizza. Ovens vary. When it is done brush the basil butter on the edges of naan. Rest the flatbread pizza for cooling it slightly, slice and enjoy.
For making basil butter:
-
Melt a table spoon of butter in a sauce pan on medium heat. Add basil to it and wait till you can smell the basil in the air. Make sure not to burn the herb otherwise you will notice a bitterness on your pizza (speaking from experience). Add a pinch of salt for taste.
Recipe Notes
Notes:
- If you are using a toaster oven to make this recipe. This will still work but reduce the temperature 375F and watch how it turns out.
- You can substitute any ingredients in this pizza for other ingredients you like BUT make sure that moisture content stays to a minimum when you top it. Since flatbread are fairly thin, the pizza will be soggy.
